Orphanages

The New Hope Trust has been committed to long-term humanitarian projects in Eastern Europe since January 1990, just after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Since then we have been actively engaged in transporting urgently needed clothing, food, medical equipment and many other vital supplies to the poorest nations in Europe. Our particular focus is on the orphans of these countries as they are the most neglected and desperately needy of any group of people we have encountered.

People have rallied behind New Hope, and thousands of tons of relief supplies have been donated over the last twenty years.  This has allowed the Trust to make an enormous difference to thousands of orphans and also to children’s AIDS hospitals, old people’s homes, hospitals, schools and even to individual families. Relief missions have also been made to Moscow, Bosnia, Croatia, Turkey, Kosovo and Albania.

Thousands of Shoe-Box parcels ready to be shipped.
One of our main appeals each year is our Christmas “Shoe-box” Parcel Appeal. Each year we take over thousands of “shoe-box” sized Christmas parcels wrapped in Christmas paper and full of sweets, toys, hats, scarves, gloves, soap, toothpaste, and other small gifts. These gifts, while seemingly a small thing to us, make all the difference in the world to children who have never known Christmas before.

Schools, clubs, groups and churches, organisations and individuals around Scotland play a huge part each year in donating thousands of “shoe-box” sized parcels.

These parcels bring a message of hope and love that most of these people would otherwise not have.
In early 2010 we entered into a 25 year contract with the Moldovan government to run an orphanage in the small Moldovan town of Cupcui. This unprecedented move puts The New Hope Trust in direct charge of over 100 Moldovan orphans.

At present the building is undergoing extensive renovation and is now our total responsibility. Along with the running costs for the building, we are responsible for the feeding, clothing and overall care of the orphans that will live there.

The ongoing need for funds, donations of clothing, food, hygeine products etc is as great as it ever has been.  These orphans need YOUR help, every day of the year.
